LSU Office of Diversity

• Assisted and developed the launching and managing of OoD digital media branding efforts and all aspects of marketing and communications for the unit (website development and updates, print, on-line, social media, feature stories, photo and video documentation, newsletters using Constant Contact software, promotional marketing (flyers) and education)

• Assisted the OoD to enact its mission and vision through the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic initiatives

• Conducted research and program support for OoD planning, advancement, fundraising and grant writing efforts

• Collected, researched, analyzed and synthesized large amounts of data through quantitative and or qualitative methods

• Compiled and synthesized information for all OoD units (The Women’s Center, The Office of Multicultural Affairs, The African American Cultural Center) publications and the OoD annual report, formulating general program and data reports

• Supported the Vice Provost (VP) and the Associate Vice Provost (AVP) with the work of the National Diversity Advisory Board and sub committees

• Worked with other graduate assistants and managed student assistants and staff in a unit on special events, trainings and projects about diversity issues in higher education

“The LSU Presidents Millennial Scholars Program, or PMSP, visited the Port of New Orleans as an academic off-campus experience to strengthen scholars’ cultural knowledge and awareness of economic systems.

 

The program is a newly created four-year retention and professional preparation program designed to provide undergraduates with necessary skills for success during and after college. In the first two years, the program concentrates on a student-centered approach to ensure academic and personal development. The last two years will highlight career and professional development, with a focus on internships and professional opportunities..."

“The LSU Office of Diversity awarded the inaugural Black Male Leadership Initiative, or BMLI, Kerry Pourciau and Kirk Bennett Leadership Award on Saturday, Nov. 14, during the home football game against the University of Arkansas.

 

LSU students Derrick Lathan and Zackari Murphy were awarded with the leadership award during the first quarter of the football game. Both Latham and Murphy are alumni fellows of BMLI..."
