The No. 3 LSU men’s golf team will look to compete for its second conference championship in three seasons today at the 2017 Southeastern Conference Men’s Golf Championships in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

The championships will take place at the par-70 Sea Island Golf Club, a course that has been the home of the conference championship since 2001.

LSU sophomore Sam Burns was announced as the 2017 NCAA Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year presented by Barbasol in conjunction with The Memorial Tournament. Burns became the first LSU golfer in history to be selected as the National Player of the Year and the program’s 11th First-Team All American.

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) selected two members from the No. 3-ranked LSU women’s track and field team for postseason awards. Junior sprinter Aleia Hobbs won SEC Women’s Outdoor Runner of the Year while freshman middle distance runner Ruby Stauber won the Women’s Outdoor Co-Freshman Runner of the Year.

During the SEC Relays, Hobbs led the women’s track team with an outstanding performance in the 4×100-meter relay, breaking the school’s record and tying Oregon’s collegiate record of 42.12 in the event while Texas A&M finished in second place with a time of 43.01.
