However, 104 years later on a Friday afternoon, history would be made as the University of Southern Mississippi officially inaugurated President Rodney Bennett as the 10th president of the university and the first black president to lead the predominantly white institution....."

School superintendents, Mississippi house delegates and Gov. Phil Bryant (R) are in support of House Bill 767, which would create a pilot program to allow high school juniors in 10 public school districts to take the ACT chosen by a University of Mississippi research center...."
