"Just nearly 60 years ago, the state of Mississippi was no stranger to intense civil rights cases and the lack of enrollment to African American students in historically white universities.

 

However, 104 years later on a Friday afternoon, history would be made as the University of Southern Mississippi officially inaugurated President Rodney Bennett as the 10th president of the university and the first black president to lead the predominantly white institution....."

"The ACT Could Become the Exit Test for Mississippi High School Students"
